could have been a bad bore , had a similar experience with a AC cylinder in castiron , but from older peugs i always liked the cast iron kits better as the alu versions . Make shure the oil pump is functional Erico , its electric 12v model with Elystars and jetforces , does happen that the 12v wires have cracks and a bad contact can cause the engine running hot quickly . I never liked that electric system for adding the mixing oil ,but afraid there is no other way on a TSDI for the air compressor is housed where you would normally find a mechanical oil pump . Sensors mosttime fail because of a failure in the +/- 12v wires ..these wires are core-break prone a little .

I will do a continuity check of the wiring of the pump to the ECU and inspect and spray some contact cleaner on the connector pins.

I am waiting for my new cylinder kit. The kit came with a strange looking metal shim. The instructions are in French. I translated them with Google translate and didn't find anything there which explained its use.

There is an open circuit between the oil pump and the ECU connector on both (yellow/white and Red/black) wires! Yikes!
That means that the oil pump couldn't possibly have run. I will chase the wires and find out where the open is.
So.. the cylinder bore was probably OK.

I removed all of the tape on the wire loom and didn't find any breaks. Funny thing. Continuity returned to both wires after I did it. I will have to inspect the wiring quite closely to see if I can find a reason for that to have happened.

I powered the pump manually and it seems to be ok. I didn't know that it only pumps every time the solenoid moves. If Peugeot had called it a ECU controlled stroke solenoid operated oil pump that it would have been a better description. I guess that would not have been the French way to do things. The resistance value was within tolerance.

Time to tape up the wire loom, put things back together and then install the new Cylinder kit. I will be busy for a while

Its a quickly made mistake Erico :-)
Lets hope the next kit has a longer life expectancy ..the oil pump was propably the reason it ate the original kit also ..
Wiring from peugs isnt that bad , but as soon as there beeing worked on the engine and wires are folded backwarts etc its a good thing to check them with extra care . lets wait for the next kit ..ill be interested to hear how it will run on a replacement kit with the malossi ecu ,,it should feel a bit more powerfull as it would have been with the standard ecu .

The replacement kit came about an hour ago. Thanks much for suggesting looking into the oil pump. :) I will start on installing the cylinder kit in about fifteen minutes. When it is installed I won't be able to start the motor until the new air injector o-ring arrives. I mean the slightly larger one the goes on the combustion chamber side.

What should I expect to see for a temperature when it is running?

wet finger guessing: 60degrees celsius ?? My SF never got to boiling point , temp meter in cockpit always indicates about 1/3 on the scale

The second cylinder kit worked out well. The problem must have been the oil pump wiring.

The temp goes up to 80C and the thermostat opens and the temp drops to a tad over 60C. I talked to a couple of guys here in town and they say 60-80C is the norm.
Seems that there is a guy here in my dorp who has the Gameboy setup. I don't know yet if he has a Peug cartridge.
I put about 30km on it this evening. It starts up quickly. I haven't tried to see what max speed is yet. I buzzed along at 40-50km. I will put the rest of the cowling back on tomorrow.
I certainly learned quite a bit about two stroke direct injection with my Jetforce scoot. If I had known how much of a hassle this Peugeot was going to be, I would have bought an Aprillia SR50 Factory Ditech instead.

The only advantage the ditech has is that its possible to upload different mappings unlike peugeot ...but i like the stiffness and road handling of the jetforce better though .
Looks better too , only the cockpit looks a bit weird .. The only thing you really needed you had already , the malossi custom ecu .
Knowing peugeot a little propably the rear suspension is too weak , they all have that , but with a good stiff nitrogen filled shock absorber in the rear the jetty will be razor sharp in handling ...still i prefer the mono armed SF2 ..less complicated .
Only downside on the sf2 is the sitting position wich is a bit weird ..always get a wooden *ss after a day driving ..and its small tank size ..Maybe the next one for me will be a Gilera Runner ..13liter tank and no need to take all the gear off the buddy at tank stops underway ...good for a scooter holiday :D

I have another question for you.
When I tried riding with my wife on the buddyseat and give the scoot a little power it shut off. It restarts easily. I then tried riding alone and there were no problems at all. Do you have any idea on what could be the cause? I weigh 80 kilograms and she weighs just slightly less.

I showed her how everything on the scoot works and let her take it out for a spin. She had never ridden on or driven a scoot or a motorcycle before today but is an experienced car driver. She seems pretty comfortable riding the scoot.

I was wondering if the fact that the Malossi ECU is actually for a 70cc cylinder kit is the issue. Perhaps the ECU is giving the injector too much fuel. I notice that the temp stays just a bit over 60C after 100km with the new cylinder kit installed. I suppose it could be that the motor is not yet broken in. I tried max speed today and got 84 km/h. I am happy with that on a 50cc scooter.

What are your thoughts on this?
